World Schools 2016: Two Individual Golds + Team Silver for India

The Indian team had a happy finish at the World Schools 2016. A. Harshini and Dhyana Patel won the gold in the under-15 and under-11 sections respectively. It's usually the youngsters who are well prepared. It's these young guns who have huge amounts of stamina to trick their opponents in the endgame. They are the ones who always have a new idea up their sleeve in the openings. However, in the fifth round of the London Chess Classic, we witnessed something completely different. It was Anand who came out with a stunning novelty against So and drew the game. Shyaamnikil wins 2nd RWF International in Bangalore

It was a tournament with organization par excellence. The playing hall was mammoth and it hosted 801 participants from all over India. The 2nd RWF tournament was a huge success. The event that had 16 titled players and was won by P. Shyaamnikil from Tamil Nadu. He went back home with a prize of Rs.70,000. London 04: Deep calculation, London System and the Caro Kann Gambit!

There were three extremely interesting things that happened in the fourth round of the London Chess Classic. Vishy Anand made an impressive and deep calculation against Michael Adams, but couldn't assess the position correctly. Wesley So played a very interesting idea against the very popular London System and Hikaru Nakamura brought the 3...c5 gambit in the Caro Kann back into action. London 03: The Naka effect!

After a scintillating win in round two against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Vishy Anand was completely off colour against Hikaru Nakamura. The American made quite a few errors and Anand had the chance to take over the advantage, however, it was not to be. Anand made some huge mistakes and Nakamura took the full point. This was the only decisive game of the day, but surely not the most exciting one. It was Aronian versus So that caught the eyeballs of our 10-year-old annotator Aditya Mittal and he brings to you some high quality analysis.
