London 02: Anand crushes the Najdorf, So enters 2800+ league!

Maxime Vachier Lagrave is famed for his Najdorf Defence. The Frenchman essayed it against Vishy Anand in the second round and found that the Indian had done his homework to perfection. Vishy played a powerful game and registered a win. Wesley So entered the 2800+ league by squeezing the life out of Michael Adams. Caruana swindled Topalov in a position that was extremely complicated. The London Chess Classic's main event is the ten-player super tournament but also of importance is the FIDE Open that runs simultaneously. What a start to the London Chess Classic! All the players came to the game in a fighting mood. Wesley So like he did in the Sinquefield Cup began with a win over birthday boy Hikaru Nakamura. Vladimir Kramnik was in his element as he dispatched Veselin Topalov and Michael Adams would be kicking himself at making a wrong king move after a well played game to lose to Levon Aronian. Wazeer Ahmad Khan is Asian 65+ Champion

The Myanmar Chess Federation organized the Asian Seniors Championship 2016 from 27 October to 04 November at Hotel Hazel, Mandalay, Myanmar. The tournament was held in two categories — for players aged above 50 and 65. India's 69-year-old IM Wazeer Ahmad Khan won the gold in the 65+ category where 18 players competed. The tournament had 56 players from 12 countries competing for the medals. We have a quick report.

One day before the main tournament began, the organizers of the London Chess Classic hosted the Pro-biz cup. Successful businessmen and entrepreneurs bid for their favourite world class player and team up with him to play a tandem match against another team. Vishy Anand and Terry Chapman were just too strong for the other participants. They won all their games and took home the fourth pro-biz cup trophy!
