Raahul V S is the National Amateur Champion

Raahul V S became the National Amateur Champion after he defeated Ameya Audi in the last round. YVK Chakravarthy drew his game against Omkar Kadav and the two had to be content with the second and third spots respectively. Smaraki Mohanty was the National Women's Amateur Champion. The tournament ended quite a while ago, but we found it important to ensure that the National Champions make it our newspage.

The 2nd edition of the IIFLW is in progress in Mount Litera School, Mumbai from the 26th December 2016 to 3rd January 2017. In the morning you have the IIFLW Juniors (u-13) which begins at 9.30 a.m. and in the evenings we have the Open section that kicks off at 4.00 p.m. Over here you can watch all the games live with features like livebook, engine analysis and much more.

What an exciting day at the World Rapid Championships 2016 in Doha. Surya Shekhar Ganguly missed a mate in three against World Champion Magnus Carlsen. Vishy Anand played solid chess and with two wins and three draws is on the 15th position. The performer of the day was surely Vidit with four wins against the likes of Jobava, Artemiev and Akopian. In the women's section Humpy is on 2.5/4, while Harika is on two. Full report with high class pictures and analysis.

The fourth Bhopal Open is being held from the 20th to the 25th of December 2016 at Bansal Institute of Science and Technology. GM Sriram Jha is the top seed followed by IMs Ravi Teja, Anup Deshmukh and Chakravarthy Reddy. The organization of the event is excellent, with a beautiful playing venue and good accommodation facilties for the players. The Sunway Sitges International is currently taking place in Spain from the 16th to the 23rd of December 2016. Gata Kamsky and Sasikiran are the top seeds with a rating of 2661 followed by 26 more grandmasters. However, the most impressive thing about the event is the beautiful setting. IM V. Saravanan, who himself is playing at the event, sent us an impressive pictorial report. And don't miss out on two brilliant games by Shyam Sundar, who leads the event along with Granda Zuniga and Romanov.

London 09: Wesley So takes it all!

Wesley So played one of the best tournaments of his life, scored a +3 result and went back home with US$175,000 and the title of London Chess Classic and Grand Chess Tour 2016. Fabiano Caruana finished second followed by Kramnik and Anand. Giri could not break his drawing streak and ended with nine draws out of nine! The moving story of the final round was the never-say-die spirit of Veselin Topalov, who won his first game of the event after six losses. Analysis and explanations by Aditya Mittal.
