Vigneshwaran S wins 1st Prime Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2022

As many as ten players finished the tournament with a score of 7/8. Vigneshwaran S clinched 1st Prime Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2022 due to better tie-breaks. IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam and 12-year-old Vignesh Kannan P secured second and third place. Vigneshwaran drew with the runner-up and defeated the second runner-up in round 7 and 6 respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹15000, ₹13000 and ₹12000 along with a trophy each. A total of 367 players participated in this one-day event held at Vriksha Global School on 20th November 2022. Pankaj Verma becomes Himachal Pradesh State Senior Champion for the fourth time

Pankaj Verma, Suryansh Verma and Jatin Sharma scored 7/8 each. Pankaj won the tournament due to better tie-breaks. Suryansh and Jatin were placed second and third respectively. This was the first time, Himachal Pradesh State Senior Championship became a FIDE Rated event. Both Pankaj and Suryansh remained undefeated. Pankaj drew with the eventual runner-up in the penultimate round and defeated the second runner-up, in the fourth round. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹100000. Tabatabaei wins 3rd Elllobregat Open in Playoffs, Aditya Mittal third

Singapore no.1 GM Jingyao Tin and India's latest GM Aditya Mittal both drew their final round games against GM Eltaj Safarli (AZE) and GM Rasmus Svane (GER) respectively. Iran no.2 GM M Amin Tabatabaei defeated Germany no.2 GM Matthias Bluebabum. Thus, Jingyao, Tabatabaei and Aditya ended up having 7/9 each and Playoff was enforced. Tabatabaei defeated Mittal 1.5-0.5 first and then Jingyao 2-0 in the Finals to win 3rd Elllobregat Open 2022. Jingyao finished second and Aditya was placed third. They won €10000, €5000 and €2000 cash each respectively. IM Aditya S Samant secured his second GM-norm. 12-year-old Arush Chitre won the Group B with an unbeaten 7.5/9, gained a whopping 254.8 Elo rating points and finished a full point ahead. Laxman R R wins Dr. Ajitkumar Singh Kasliwal & Suneeta Singh Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2022

Both GM Laxman R R and Daksh Goyal scored 8/9. However, Laxman won Dr. Ajitkumar Singh Kasliwal and Suneeta Singh Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2022 due to better tie-breaks. Daksh had to settle for the second place. Laxman had already defeated Daksh in the fifth round. Indrajeet Mahindrakar and Madhya Pradesh's very own Prakhar Bajaj scored 7.5/9. They were adjudged third and fourth respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. India finishes third at 4th SCO Online Team Tournament 2022

Starting out as the fifth seed, India scored 12/18 along with three other teams. Iran won the 4th Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Online Team Tournament scoring 13/18. China also scored the same, however they were placed second on tie-breaks. India finished third according to tie-breaks. Azerbaijan, China Shanghai and Belarus were placed fourth to sixth. The total prize fund of the tournament was CNY 100000 (approx. ₹1181219). The top three prizes were CNY25000, 15000 and 10000. India comprising of GM Karthikeyan Murali and GM Iniyan P, won approx. ₹118122. 12-year-old Kushagra Jain triumphs at 1st TMCA Rating Open 2022

12-year-old Kushagra Jain scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 1st TMCA Rating Open 2022. Three players including the top seed, IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni scored 7.5/9 each. Vikramaditya, and Viresh Sharnarthi were placed second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. 12-year-old Kalyani Sirin is the highest finisher among female participants. She finished fourth overall with a score of 7.5/9 and won the first prize in Rating Category 1301-1600. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹250000. Jubin Jimmy becomes the latest International Master of India

16-year-old FM Jubin Jimmy became the latest International Master of India on 1st December 2022. The Keralite scored his final IM-norm Vezerkepzo GM 12 November 2022, three months after he scored his second IM-norm at 28th Abu Dhabi Masters 2022 in August. In the sixth round of Six Days at Budapest Round Robin tournament, Jubin defeated GM Adam Horvath at the beginning of this month to cross 2400 in the live ratings. His current live rating is now 2411.8. The teenager is now three GM-norms and 78.2 Elo rating points away from becoming India's next and Kerala's fourth GM after G N Gopal, S L Narayanan and Nihal Sarin. Photo: Aditya Sur Roy

Diptayan Ghosh dominates 3rd Dombivli Kalyan Rapid Rating Open 2022

GM Diptayan Ghosh scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 3rd Dombivli Kalyan Rapid Rating Open 2022. Last year also Diptayan won the same event with an exact same score and once again he finished a half point ahead of the field. Seven players scored 8/9 each. Ankur Mahesh Gokhale and Arpan Das were adjudged second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. The total cash prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000 and 97 trophies. Breaking News: Aditya Mittal becomes India's 77th Grandmaster

Aditya Mittal earned his maiden GM-norm at Serbia Masters 2021. Five months later, he scored his second GM-norm at 2nd El Llobregat Open 2021. The teenager scored his third and final GM-norm at Serbia Masters 2022. In the sixth round of 3rd El Llobregat Open 2022, he drew with the Spain no.1 GM Francisco Vallejo Pons to cross 2500 in the live ratings and become India's 77th Grandmaster. Aditya has been close to 2500 for quite some time in the past few months, however, he finally managed it cross it last night. He is currently one of the five leaders of the tournament at 5/6 each. Third seed of the tournament, Vaisnav A scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 8th ICA Below 1700 Rating Tournament 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Yogesh Selvam scored sole 8/9 to secure second place. He also remained undefeated. Five players scored 7.5/9. Out of them, Satheesh Kumar G was placed third according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹599000. The top three prizes were ₹50000 and a trophy, ₹40000 and ₹30000 each respectively. A total of 426 players took part from various parts of the country, Mongolia and USA. Arjun Erigaisi wins Tata Steel Chess India 2022 Blitz with a round to spare, now World no.10

India no.3 GM Arjun Erigaisi won Tata Steel Chess India 2022 Blitz with a round to spare 12.5/18. His score is the same as Nakamura and Anand tied in the 2018 edition of this event. Arjun scored two crucial wins on the final day against Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in Round 15 and Hikaru Nakamura in Round 17. Bouncing back against the new World Fischer Random champion after suffering a loss against Iran no.1 Parham Maghsoodloo in Round 16 is where Arjun showed what champions are made of. This is Arjun's third Tata Steel event triumph. First one was - Rapid 2021, then Challengers in early 2022 and now this. The teenager is now World no.10 in Blitz in the live ratings. Vaishali clinches Tata Steel Chess India 2022 Women Blitz convincingly, Harika third

India no.3 IM Vaishali R started the final day with a 7/9 score. She finished it with 13.5/18 to become the first-ever Tata Steel Chess India 2022 Women Blitz champion. She showed resiliency in her pursuit for the top prize. Despite losing to GM Anna Muzychuk for the second time in this event in Round 13, she managed to keep her composure and continue her path towards glory. After winning a double Bronze (Team and Individual) at the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022, this is certainly a huge achievement for her. Earlier in May, she scored her second GM-norm. Apart from this victory opening many more opportunities for her, she is also on her way to become a GM. Mariya Muzychuk (UKR) secured second place 12/18, followed by Harika Dronavalli 11/18 at third. Top seed of the tournament, CM Niraj Saripalli and Mandar Lad Pradip scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 each. Niraj won the Late Lt. Cdr. Gopal Sakharam Sukthankar Memorial All Goa Rapid Rating 2022 on tie-breaks. Mandar had to settle for second place. Both of them finished a full point ahead of the field. Three players - Sairaj Dilip Vernekar, Joy Kakodkar and Anish Naik scored 7.5/9 each. Sairaj was adjudged third. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹50000. The top three prizes were ₹11000, ₹8000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each. The tournament is being conducted for 11 years and for the first time it was a Rapid Rated event. Tata Steel India 2022 Blitz R1-9: Arjun Erigaisi grabs sole lead, performs at 2871, now World no.12

Arjun Erigaisi scored 6.5/9 to emerge sole leader at Tata Steel Chess India 2022 Blitz. He is a half point ahead of Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (AZE) who was the only person to beat Arjun so far. They are followed by Vidit Gujrathi at 5.5/9. With a performance of 2871, Arjun is gaining 14.4 Elo rating points so far, making him currently the World no.12 in Blitz in the live ratings. Nihal Sarin made the perfect start by beating Hikaru Nakamura in the first round. However, they both are now at 5/9 each. Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa are at 4/9 each. The 15th Women's World Champion in history, GM Mariya Muzychuk made a blazing start at Tata Steel Chess India 2022 Women Blitz. The 44th Olympiad Gold medalist scored an unbeaten 8/9 to gain sole lead and stay a full point ahead of the competition. IM Vaishali R is at sole second position with a score of 7/9. They are followed by former World Women's Blitz champion, GM Anna Muzychuk (UKR) and 44th Olympiad Bronze medalist, GM Harika Dronavalli.
