European Online Club Cup 2021 R5-9: Novy Bor tops Group B

Novy Bor topped Group B with a 100% score of 18.0/18 to advance to the next stage in European Online Club Cup 2021. All six players of the team remained undefeated. Harikrishna played only two games, Vidit made 3.5/4 and Sasikiran scored 2.5/3 on the second day of group stage. Gukesh, Nandhidhaa, Soham and Yashas' journey at the tournament came to an end as none of their respective teams managed to finish in top two of their respective groups to advance to the next stage. Play-offs start tonight from 6 p.m. IST onwards.

Bangladesh Premier League R10: Bangladesh Police wins with a round to spare

Bangladesh Police successfully retains their title with a round to spare in Mujib Borso SAIF Powertec Premier Division Chess League. Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society lost to the eventual champions by 0.5-3.5. Sanket Chakravarty avoided a whitewash for his team by making a draw with Bangladesh no.1 GM Abdullah Al Rakib. Among other upsets, IM Minhaz held GM Kovalev, Kaustuv Kundu held GM Narayanan and IM Aronyak held GM Neelotpal to a draw. Final round commences today from 2:30 p.m. IST. European Online Club Cup 2021 R1-4: Vidit and Sasikiran start with a hat-trick

Novy Bor made their presence felt on the opening day of European Online Club Cup 2021. They won all four games and took a sole lead in Group B with 8.0/8. Both Vidit and Sasikiran made a 100% score with 3.0/3 to anchor the team for a good start. Gukesh D scored 3.0/4 for his team Gijon 64 in Group C. Nandhidhaa P V made 2.0/4 for Tremblay Girls in Group D. Soham Das also 2.0/4 for Club Ajedrez 64 Villalba-Miscasa A in Group E. Bangladesh Premier League R9: Shahin Chess Club shocks SAIF Sporting

GM Abhimanyu Puranik of Shahin Chess Club once again scored an emphatic victory, this time showcasing his positional prowess against GM Vladislav Kovalev of SAIF Sporting Club in Round 9 of Mujib Borso SAIF Powertec Premier Division Chess League. SAIF Sporting Club is still at the second position with 12.0/16. Shahin Chess Club moved to the third place on the table with 10.0/16. Bangladesh Police maintained their sole lead with a 100% score of 16.0/16. They are just a draw away from winning the tournament. Qualifying tournaments are held by various regional chess clubs to select candidates for the strongest event of the year, held in May – the Japan Chess Championship, a FIDE rated event. GM Abhimanyu Puranik of Shahin Chess Club scored a fantastic victory with a brilliant display of attack against Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society in Round 8 of Mujib Borso SAIF Powertec Premier Division Chess League. SAIF Sporting Club somehow managed to score a victory as FM Mehdi Hasan Parag swindled his opponent in the final moments of the game. They are at the second position with 12.0/14. Praggnanandhaa dominates Yugam 2021 International Online Blitz Open

GM Praggnanandhaa won Yugam 2021 International Online Blitz Open with a score of 8.5/9. He started with eight consecutive victories and then drew the final round game to finish a half point ahead of the competition. Both untitled Pranav V and GM Diptayan Ghosh made 8.0/9, suffering only one loss and zero draws. They were placed second and third respectively according to their tie-break scores. Bangladesh Police shows no sign of slowing down as they scored their second whitewash in Round 7 of Mujib Borso SAIF Powertec Premier Division Chess League. Bangladesh Navy suffered their third consecutive loss and fourth overall loss of the event. SAIF Sporting Club maintained their second position 10.0/12 as they beat Titas Club. Leon Luke Mendonca becomes unbeaten champion again at 2nd Kumania GM

GM Leon Luke Mendonca won his second tournament in consecutive months as he scored an unbeaten 6.5/9 to win 2nd Kumánia GM tournament. Last month Leon won Vezerkepzo IM Round-Robin. The 14-year-old had also won the first edition of Kumania Championship back in November 2020. Leon started the tournament with a draw then he registered four consecutive victories and four consecutive draws to finish with the same score as GM Milan Pacher. Bangladesh Premier League R6: Uttara Central holds SAIF Sporting to a draw

SAIF Sporting Club was once again held to 2-2 draw in Round 6 of Mujib Borso SAIF Powertec Premier Division Chess League. This time it was Uttara Central Chess Club who caused the upset. While Adhiban and Kovalev scored victories for SAIF Sporting, Mitrabha and Koustav scored important wins for Uttara Central to split the match point. Bangladesh Police continued their lead 12.0/12 at the top as they beat Shahin Chess Club 2.5-1.5. Titas Club moved up to the third position with a victory over Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society. Capablanca Chess School presents 5th Anniversary Celebration Online Blitz Open for players all across the world. They have organized 25 chess tournaments since they were founded in 2016. The tournament will take place on Saturday 3rd of April at 8 p.m. IST in ChessBase India webroom on Playchess. Entry is FREE for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIMs. For everyone else Entry fee is ₹200 for Indians and €3 for foreigners. Leonin Chess Club surprised SAIF Sporting Club to a 2-2 draw in Round 5 of Mujib Borso SAIF Powertec Premier Division Chess League. IM Aronyak held GM Adhiban to a draw and CM Shawket defeated GM Reefat. Subhayan missed a draw against GM Kovalev which would have then allowed Leonin Chess Club to score an upset victory. Meanwhile Bangladesh Police scored a victory by minimum margin over Bangladesh Biman as GM Gukesh beat GM Ganguly. Iniyan wins Silver at the 1st FIDE World University Online Individual Blitz Championship

India's 61st GM Iniyan P of Bharathiyar University started out as the highest rated Indian among 960 university students from 78 counries all across the world in 1st FIDE World University Online Individual Blitz Championship. He finished at the top of his group, Group A with 8.5/10. In the Finals, he started the Round-Robin event with a loss against GM Yinglun Xu but then he scored 5.5/6 in the remaining six games to finish tied first with the eventual Gold medal winner GM Haik Martirosyan of Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture. Iniyan was placed second according to the tie-breaks. There is no change at the top of the table as Bangladesh Police maintained their sole lead with 8.0/8 at the conclusion of Round 4 in Mujib Borso SAIF Powertec Premier Division Chess League. They beat Titas Club by 3.5-0.5. GM Raunak Sadhwani scored a fantastic victory over IM Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad. SAIF Chess Club picked up a 3-1 victory to regain their second place at the table with 6.0/6. COB All Stars Day 1: Vaibhav Sethia and Samay Raina show high class chess

Comedians on Board (COB) All Stars event has begun with 8 strong stand-up comedians facing off each other in a Round Robin format. The top two players will play the finals. The total prize fund of the event is Rs.10 lakh with the winner taking home Rs.3 lakh. Joel D'souza, the winner of Comedians on Board III is the favourite to win the event. Giving him a strong challenge are Samay Raina, Biswa Kalyan Rath and Vaibhav Sethia. On day one we had an amazing match between Samay Raina and Vaibhav Sethia.
