Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad wins Leelavathi Memorial 1st Rapid Rating Open 2022

IM Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad won the first online edition of Leelavathi Memorial Blitz Open in 2020. A little over two years later, the first Leelavathi Memorial Rapid Rating Open was also won by him. He remained undefeated on both occasions. Both Dhulipalla and IM Kushagra Mohan scored an identical 8/9, including seven wins and two draws. They secured the first and second place according to tie-breaks. Six players finished with 7.5/9 each. Out of them, Anustoop Biswas was adjudged third. Arpita Mukherjee wins the 1st Mystic Wealth Chess Scholarship 2022-23 of Rs.1,50,000

The 1st Mystic Wealth Chess Scholarship is instituted by Manish Dhawan, the founder-partner of Mystic Wealth investment firm. The amount of scholarship is Rs.1,50,000. Earlier in the year we put up an article for people to apply to this scholarship. A lot of players did apply. After due deliberation, the amount was awarded to WIM Arpita Mukherjee from West Bengal. Arpita is a talented 21-year-old with an Elo of 2238. Her aim in chess is to become a full-fledged GM. The main issue she faces is with regards to finances. Winning this scholarship and getting Rs.12,500 for the next 12 months is sure to ease her pressure and help her in her career.

Laura Unuk becomes the brand ambassador of Ford Slovenia

IM Laura Unuk has been the best woman of her country, Slovenia for over seven years. She has won several Slovenia girls championships - Under-10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 from 2009 to 2017. She has also won a team Gold, individual Gold (2014) and Silver (2017) at European Under-18 Girls' Team. She is also the World Youth Under-16 (2014) and Under-18 Girls (2017) champion. The brand ambassador of Ferme Fashion and Huawei Slovenia also became the brand ambassador of Ford Slovenia. She was given a brand-new custom designed Ford Puma hybrid car which she calls Pumica (Baby Puma). Divya Deshmukh clinches Gold at Asian Continental Blitz Women 2022, Mary Silver and Aravindh Bronze in Open

WGM Divya Deshmukh became the sole Indian to earn two medals at Asian Continental 2022. After securing Bronze in the Classical, she scored 7.5/9 to clinch the Gold in the Blitz Women event. Despite starting with a loss, she made 7.5/8 in the next eight games and finished a half point ahead of the field. WGM Mary Ann Gomes scored 7/9 to win secure the Silver medal. Former Asian Continental Women's champion, WGM Thi Kim Phung Vo (VIE) also finished with 7/9 to secure the Bronze medal according to tie-breaks. Homeboy Arjun Erigaisi beats Gukesh to win ChessBase India Originals Deathmatch 2.0

On 5th of November 2022, a riveting battle between 2 of India's chess superstars took place in the DreamHack festival at Hitex Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad. The India no.3 D Gukesh took on the India no.4 Arjun Erigaisi in the Deathmatch 2.0! Designed to be the ultimate challenge of skills between 2 chess players, the players had to compete in different chess variants and short time controls, with very little time in between games. Nandhidhaa P V Golden at Asian Continental 2022 Women, Priyanka Nutakki Silver and Divya Bronze

WGM Nandhidhaa P V drew her final round game with WGM Divya Deshmukh as she had already secured the Gold on the previous day. She scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to become champion. WGM Priyanka Nutakki defeated the former Asian Continental Women champion, IM Padmini Rout to win the Silver medal. Both Nandhidhaa and Priyanka have earned themselves a spot in the next FIDE Women's Cup 2023. Divya was adjudged third according to tie-breaks. Prasannaa wins 1st ISC Rating Open 2022

S Prasannaa scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st ISC International Open Rating Tournament 2022. Prasannaa scored eight consecutive wins to gain a full point lead heading into the final round. He drew his final game against Jai Sankar Subramanian to finish a half point ahead of the field. The reigning Kerala State Senior champion, Marthandan K U scored sole 8/9 to finish second. Five players scored 7.5/9. Jai was placed third according to the tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. Fall Chess Classic R1-5: Vidit and Raunak in lead

The 2022 Fall Chess Classic is the third installment of the Chess Classics featuring international chess professionals. The Fall Chess Classic is comprised of two, 10-player Round Robin tournaments. 3 Indian players are taking part in the tournament - GMs Vidit Gujrathi, Surya Sekhar Ganguly, and Raunak Sadhwani. Vidit and Surya are playing in Group A, and Raunak is playing in Group B of the tournament. After 5 rounds, GM Vidit Gujrathi is leading the A group, and GM Raunak Sadhwani is leading the B group. Almaty to host World Rapid & Blitz Championships from 25th to 30th December 2022

FIDE World Rapid and Blitz championship will take place from 25th to 30th December in Almaty, Kazakhstan. More details is slated to be revealed by 15th November. One can expect the eligibility criteria, tournament regulations and total prize fund will be mentioned there. GMs Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Alexandra Kosteniuk and IM Bibisara Assaubayeva are the defending champions. They would definitely like to defend their titles. Among the Indians, it would be great to see Vishy Anand return to this event after skipping last year. Praggnanandhaa wins Gold at Asian Continental 2022, Silver for Harsha and Adhiban Bronze

GM R Praggnanandhaa drew with GM B Adhiban in the final round. The next two boards also had no decisive results. Thus, Praggnanandhaa became Asian Continental 2022 Open champion with an unbeaten 7/9. Six players scored 6.5/9. GM Harsha Bharathakoti and GM B Adhiban were placed second and third according to tie-breaks. They won Silver and Bronze medal. GM S L Narayanan was adjudged fourth. They all qualified to the FIDE World Cup 2023. The total prize fund of the tournament was US$ 60000, $31400 in the Open. DreamHack Rapid and Blitz 2022 witnesses the participation of 8 GMs and 10 IMs

DreamHack India is the biggest gaming festival in the country. To be held in Hyderabad from 4th to 6th of November 2022, it will witness the gathering of over 20,000 gamers from all across the country!  This year, chess has been introduced as a part of the DreamHack. Nandhidhaa P V clinches Gold at Asian Continental Women 2022 with a round to spare

Top seed GM R Praggnanandhaa defeated IM Koustav Chatterjee to gain sole lead 6.5/8. He is now a half point ahead heading into the final round of Asian Continental Chess Championship 2022. Five players are at 6/8. They are - Harsha Bharathakoti, S L Narayanan, B Adhiban, Shamsiddin Vokhidov and Karthik Venkataraman. In the Women's event, WGM Nandhidhaa PV defeated IM Soumya Swaminathan to win the tournament with a round to spare. The battle for the remaining two places will be on. Fall Chess Classic 2022 Preview

The 2022 Fall Chess Classic is the third installment of the Chess Classics featuring international chess professionals. The Fall Chess Classic is comprised of two, 10-player Round Robin tournaments. Over the course of 2nd November -10th November, these competitors will battle for more than $36,000 in prize money and gain valuable experience in top-level events. The tournament will be held in the St. Louis Chess Club, and will be broadcasted live in their YouTube Channel. A total of 3 Indian players take part in this event! Live broadcast begins from 2:30 AM IST.
