World Cup 2015 Rd.2: Sethu beats Hari

The underdog of the match S.P.Sethuraman was able to rise up to the occasion and beat his much higher rated opponent Pentala Harikrishna to advance to the third round of the World Cup 2015. After this match, Sethuraman is the only Indian left in the field and he will face the winner of the Mamedyarov-Hou Yifan match.

Harikrishna and Sethuraman faced off against each other in the second round of the World Cup 2015. It was a tense game in the Berlin where the higher rated Hari held the advantage for majority of the game. Sethuraman defended tenaciously and was able to hold the draw. It was an exciting first game between the two Indian players. 

World Cup 2015: Rd.1 tie-breaks

Tie-breaks are always exciting. In the first round tie breaks the match between Sargissian and Bartel went right upto the armageddon stage. Sargissian finally won! Vidit and Adhiban both were eliminated by their opponents Bruzon and Fedoseev in first two rapid games itself.

World Cup Round 1.2: Hari and Sethu advance

Two Indians had to pack their bags and leave Baku - Lalith Babu and Surya Shekhar Ganguly. Two of them advanced to the round two Harikrishna and Sethuraman, while Adhiban and Vidit will fight it out in the tie-breaks tomorrow against Fedoseev and Bruzon respectively.
