Asian Continental Championship has concluded yesterday. India had a fruitful outing as GM Vidit Gujrathi and WIM Vaishali R clinched bronze medals in the classical championship. PM Narendra Modi congratulated Vaishali for her gold medal winning performance in the Blitz championship. A golden day for Indian chess!

Last round of an important event like Asian Continental 2017 is extremely nerve-wracking. A lot of things are at stake and it is important to keep things under control. Two V's of Indian chess Vaishali and Vidit did that perfectly to secure bronze medals in women and open section respectively. With this performance Vidit makes it to the World Cup 2017 to be held in Georgia in September. Report from Chengdu, China.

The very first "First Saturday tournament" in Budapest was played in 1987. The idea behind this successful series is simple: make it easier for young players to get round robin norms you need for the title.
