The Big Chess Summer Camp 2026 concluded on 24th May after seven memorable days at Phoenix Marketcity, Mumbai. A total of 671 participants visited the camp, making it one of the most vibrant editions yet. The camp created countless special moments for everyone who was a part of it. We welcomed special guests, witnessed inspiring stories, saw new friendships being formed, and watched players of all ages come together through their love for chess. Samosas, Skewers and Shattered Kings: Joel and Prakhar Dominate COB Revival Day 1

The return of Comedians on Board – COB Revival kicked off with absolute madness on Day 1. Moving away from massive 32 player elimination formats of the lockdown era, this edition gathers 8 battle-hardened Indian Comedian Chess Players for a intense round robin tournament held over the board for the qualification into the Knockouts. The tournament is held over four days at Habitat, Mumbai where audience can join in to witness live commentary sitting in front of casters, meet and greet sessions and much more. The event is produced by Nodwin Gaming and Sponsored by Airlearn. The top 4 players from the group stage will advance to knockout semifinals. 35 Golds, 92 Medals! Team India Absolute Champions at Commonwealth Chess Championship 2026

Indian players showed their dominance at the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2026, conducted at Hotel Citrus, Kalutara, Sri Lanka, from 17th to 25th May 2026. GM Mitrabha Guha scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 points to win the Open section, and Srihari L R secured 3rd place. Indian players secured a total of 12 Golds in the standard format, 11 Golds in Rapid, and 12 Golds in Blitz across all categories. After this win in the classical format, Praggnanandhaa climbed up to joint 3rd place with Vincent and Carlsen, and with 3 rounds to go, it can be anyone's tournament to win. World Champion D Gukesh defeated the tournament leader Wesley So in an Armageddon game, but Wesley is still in a big lead. In a bid to promote the culture of chess solving in the country, we at ChessBase India have been organising regular solving contests across India. Yet one challenge has become increasingly apparent: many enthusiasts are eager to solve, but few have had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of chess composition and the techniques that experienced solvers employ. Before we can build a thriving solving culture, this knowledge must become more widely accessible. It is with this goal in mind that we are launching Inside The Solver's Mind — an online learning programme designed to bring the joy and art of solving chess compositions to everyone. In this article, we take a closer look at the initiative and what participants can expect from it.

First Move Chess Academy Organizes 3-Day Intensive Coaching Camp by GM Sriram Jha

For the first time in Mysuru, First Move Chess Academy organised a 3-day intensive chess coaching camp from April 9th to 11th, conducted by Grandmaster Sriram Jha, the 21st Grandmaster of India and an active international player. Grandmaster Sriram Jha earned his GM title in 2010 and is a Commonwealth Games silver medalist. He has represented India in numerous international tournaments and brings a wealth of competitive experience and a deep understanding of the game. Magnus Carlsen defeated the World Champion D Gukesh in the 4th round of Norway Chess 2026. Magnus played an excellent game to outplay Gukesh, and in the post-game interview, Magnus said, "He played himself into trouble!" The other 5 games, including the Women's section, were decided in an Armageddon. 11-year-old Vickash S dominated the field at Warrior Chess Academy's 2nd FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament for Below 1650. Vickash scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 points to win the tournament. 13 players scored 7.5/9 points to finish in 2nd to 14th places according to tiebreak scores. The tournament was organised by Warrior Chess Academy & Capa Chess Academy from 25th to 27th April 2026 at the Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai. Praggnanandhaa defeated World No.1, Magnus Carlsen, in the 3rd round of Norway Chess. It was a wild game in which both players missed chances, but Praggnanandhaa emerged victorious. This is Pragg's 2nd classical victory over Magnus Carlsen. In 2024, he defeated Magnus in the 12th edition of Norway Chess. Alireza Firouzja kept his winning run going as he defeated D Gukesh in a crazy Armageddon game. Divya Deshmukh is showing her class, and she scored her 3rd consecutive win in the Armageddon game. 6th CFPD National Chess Championship 2026 for Specially Abled Players Kicks Off in Indore

A special tournament for very special players kicks off at Indore Public School. Chief Minister Trophy - 6th CFPD National Chess Championship for Specially Abled Players 2026 started on 27th May 2026. A total of 82 specially abled players are taking part in the National Championship. Among them, 51 are FIDE-rated players, while others are unrated bravehearts. This tournament is the perfect example of the fighting spirit and love for our game. These players are the real motivation for everyone to look up to and get inspired. Read day 1 report. Shankhadeep Maity wins ₹4,50,000 at 17th KIIT International Chess Festival Cat-B

Shankhadeep Maity scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 points to win the 17th KIIT International Chess Festival 2026 (Category 'B' Below-1900). Shankhadeep finished a clear point ahead of 10 players who scored 7.5/9 points. Samarth Jain and Satyam Sarbajit Mishra secured 2nd and 3rd place according to tiebreak scores. Alireza Firouzja scored his 2nd classical win in a row to gain a 3.5-point lead over the field. In the 2nd round of Norway Chess 2026, he defeated R Praggnanandhaa in the classical game. Apart from this game, all other games ended in a draw in classical time control, and the results came in an Armageddon game. Magnus Carlsen defeated Vincent Keymer, and the World Champion D Gukesh suffered a loss against Wesley So. In the Women's section, Bibisara maintained her lead after defeating Zhu Jiner in Armageddon, while Divya scored her 2nd consecutive Armageddon win.
