In this article, the current WB State and National Under-17 Girls champion Samriddhaa Ghosh of Kolkata, talks about how she is spending her lockdown days. How she is making the most out of this pandemic, she had plans to play tournaments throughout the year but now she has to confine herself in online events only. He launched his new official website on 1st May 2020. The website has all the information about Vishnu and it is rich with features. One of the feature of the site is blog where Vishnu himself discusses various themes about chess. In his third blog post, he talks about theories. We all know that we must learn theories in chess to improve the understanding of the game. However he also mentions the fact that there is no single theory for every position in chess. Chess has become the most popular sport in this lockdown. The main reason is that the game doesn't lose its essence when you play it online. Apart from the ease of playing, there is also one more reason why chess has started to get followers who hitherto thought that the game was not so interesting. And that reason is stand-up comedians of India led by Samay Raina. Samay is a stand-up comedian and also a chess lover. He began streaming about chess on his YouTube channel around two months ago and now has inspired thousands of people across the globe to take up the sport. How did he do that? We interview Samay and his friends and get to know how it all began!

GM Karthikeyan Murali on balancing chess and academics

He has already been two time World Youth champion and has a current rating of 2600+! Apart from these achievements, he is a well-known chess solver and his battle against Firouzja from Asian Championships 2019 is deemed as one of the greatest queen sacrifices in the history of the game. It is clear that Karthi is an overachiever when it comes to chess. The coronavirus has well-nigh brought the whole world to a stand still, but for chess players this is a crucial time to work hard and improve on their game. ChessBase India is accordingly hosting some great instructive shows with top Indian players during these lockdown times. And recently our guest was none other than the beast, Grandmaster and India no.4 Adhiban Baskaran. FIDE has taken an initiative to launch FIDE Checkmate Coronavirus - 30 days of non-stop online chess fun for everyone all over the world as this is the online sport which can be played online without huge modifications in this unprecedented times. Starts from 18th May 2020, there will be 80 daily tournaments everyday for the next 30 days till 16th June in various chess platforms all across the internet. There are over 1500 prizes with the highest prize being one-week invitation to the 2021 Chess Olympiad in Moscow. There is also a prize for online GM training. On 184th birth anniversary of the first Official World Champion, a retired Sports Editor in one of the leading Bangla newspaper of India, Aajkaal, Mr. Nirmal Kumar Saha decided to pen his memoir of Wilhelm Steinitz on his blog. We are all aware of the 'Father of Modern Chess' and his classic game against Von Bardeleben in Hastings 1895, but what about Steinitz the man himself? How did he start his career, why did he get such a moniker, what are his contributions to the sport, a lot of this are lesser known facts among the general populace.
