FM Nikhil Dixit wins the 5th TMCA Rapid

FM Nikhil Dixit won the Open section of the 5th TMCA One Day Rapid Chess Tournament, held in Chinchwade Lawns, Pune. Both Nikhil Dixit and Aniruddha Potawad scored 6.5/7, but Nikhil clinched the 1st place due to better tiebreaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was Rs.49000, and there were a total of 49 trophies awarded. There were a total of 4 categories - Open, Under 8, Under 10 and Under 14. The most number of participants trophy was won by host of the event - Tactical Moves Chess Academy (TMCA). India wins 46 medals at Asian Youth Chess Championships 2022

India has won a mammoth 46 medals including 27 individual (13 Gold, 6 Silver and 8 Bronze) medals, 19 team (8 Gold, 4 Silver and 7 Bronze) medals at Asian Youth Chess Championships 2022. 27 out of 108 individual medals were won by Indian players. Madhvendra Pratap Sharma is the only Indian who has won a Gold medal in all three formats - Classical, Rapid and Blitz in Under-10 Open category. He also remained undefeated in all 23 games. Charvi A, Ethan Vaz, Saparya Ghosh and WFM Bhagyashree Patil won two Gold medal each in their respective categories. Jan-Krzysztof Duda defies Mamedyarov's inspired comeback, clinches Aimchess Rapid 2022

Poland no.1 Jan-Krzysztof Duda defeated Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the finals to win Aimchess Rapid 2022. It was certainly not an easy second set. Duda topped the Prelims then eliminated Vidit and Carlsen in the Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches without the need of tie-breaks. Mamedyarov had no plans of going down in two straight sets. He brought 'Shakh attack' and smashed Duda in the first two games. Duda made a prophylactic draw in the third to save energy and play Blitz tie-breaks. Queens in the castle: the 8th Global Chess Festival

The 8th Edition of the Global Chess Festival 2022 started from 8th October 2022. It brought together participants from 15 countries in Budapest. More than 3000 people attended the festival and tens of thousands followed the events online. News of the festival spread overseas, with all of New York watching on the giant screens in Times Square as the greatest female player of all time made her winning move in an iconic game against the current world champion. This year, the organizers aimed to raise awareness about the importance of the role of girls in various scientific fields.

Every year Japan’s Chess calendar features one event specially as a competition between various teams. This year’s event definitely had shades of inspiration by the 44th Chess Olympiad held in India in July-August 2022. The Japan Team Chess Championship is a good opportunity for the various chess clubs in the country to cobble up a few teams and show who is the best in business. The FIDE World Cup 2021 winner, Jan-Krzysztof Duda defeated Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the first set of Aimchess Rapid 2022 Finals. Duda started the day with a draw, then he won the next game. The third game was an exciting draw. The Poland no.1 once again won the fourth game. Both wins were scored convincingly where the World no.19's precise play induced mistakes by the World no.13. Kunal clinches Hatsun - Idhayam 6th SCS Rating Open 2022

Third seeded M Kunal scored an unbeaten 7.5/8 to win Hatsun - Idhayam 6th SCS Rating Open 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Despite being held to a draw in the second round, Kunal registered six consecutive victories between round three and eight to become the champion. Dinesh Rajan M, R Shadhursshaan and Manigandan S S scored 7/8 each. They were placed second to fourth according to tie-breaks. This was Kunal's third tournament victory in-a-row. He won UDC Cup 2nd Rapid Rating Open and 1st SRM Rapid Rating Open in consecutive months. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. Sairudra Nagvekar wins Rotary All Goa Rapid Rating Open 2022

14-year-old Sairudra Nagvekar scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Rotary All Goa Rapid Rating Open 2022. Sairudra defeated Devendra Anand Naik in the final round. He was at 8/8 then. Even after a final round loss, Devendra finished second due to better tie-break score. 13-year-old Netra P Savaikar who also scored 8/9 and remained undefeated, was placed third. The top three prizes were ₹11000, ₹8000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each respectively. Aimchess Rapid QF: Carlsen wins the Tour with a tournament to spare

Arjun Erigaisi had a decisive advantage for the better part against Carlsen in their first game of Aimchess Rapid Quarterfinals. The world champion managed to save the game after the teenager missed few good opportunities. The world no.1 won the next two games to win the match, advance to the Semifinal and win Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 season with a tournament to spare. Both Vidit and Gukesh started the day with a draw against Jan-Krzysztof Duda and Richard Rapport respectively. Vidit lost the next games, whereas Gukesh won the second and then went down in the two games.
