DreamHack Rapid and Blitz 2022 witnesses the participation of 8 GMs and 10 IMs

DreamHack India is the biggest gaming festival in the country. To be held in Hyderabad from 4th to 6th of November 2022, it will witness the gathering of over 20,000 gamers from all across the country!  This year, chess has been introduced as a part of the DreamHack. In order to make it like a chess festival, we have the DreamHack Rapid and Blitz with a massive prize fund of Rs.10 lakh! A total of 382 people have registered for the event already, with several strong titled players (including 8 Grandmasters!) also taking part.

How Vishy Anand is supporting young super talents of India through WACA

India has seen the rise of many fine chess players who have done exceedingly well in their junior years and have even become strong grandmasters, but have stumbled on their path towards becoming world class players. There was definitely something missing when it came to development of these talents. As on today, it is widely agreed in the chess world that India has the best crop of young talents with players like Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, Praggnanandhaa, Nihal Sarin, Raunak Sadhwani and many others. In order to ensure that their potential reaches the right destination, Vishy Anand decided to start off with the WestBridge Anand Chess Academy (WACA) in December 2020. How did it all begin? Nandhidhaa P V clinches Gold at Asian Continental Women 2022 with a round to spare

Top seed GM R Praggnanandhaa defeated IM Koustav Chatterjee to gain sole lead 6.5/8. He is now a half point ahead heading into the final round of Asian Continental Chess Championship 2022. Five players are at 6/8. They are - Harsha Bharathakoti, S L Narayanan, B Adhiban, Shamsiddin Vokhidov and Karthik Venkataraman. In the Women's event, WGM Nandhidhaa PV defeated IM Soumya Swaminathan to win the tournament with a round to spare. The battle for the remaining two places will be on. Fall Chess Classic 2022 Preview

The 2022 Fall Chess Classic is the third installment of the Chess Classics featuring international chess professionals. The Fall Chess Classic is comprised of two, 10-player Round Robin tournaments. Over the course of 2nd November -10th November, these competitors will battle for more than $36,000 in prize money and gain valuable experience in top-level events. The tournament will be held in the St. Louis Chess Club, and will be broadcasted live in their YouTube Channel. A total of 3 Indian players take part in this event! Live broadcast begins from 2:30 AM IST. Asian Continental 2022 R7: Praggnanandhaa grinds a 137-move marathon over six hours

When someone plays against the world champion and beats him multiple times, something is bound to rub off him. R Praggnanandhaa has assimilated Carlsen's style of grinding in the endgame. Having a tiny spec of practical chances meant Pragg will push. That's what he did and eventually his opponent, GM Karthikeyan Murali crumbled after fatigue set in due to the course of over six hours of play and 137 moves long mentally and physically exhausting battle. GM Aravindh Chithambaram tried too hard to score a win against IM Koustav Chatterjee and it cost him dearly. Harsha, Praggnanandhaa, Shamsiddin Vokhidov (UZB) and Koustav are the four leaders 5.5/7. Sasikiran wins 8th Liffre Open 2022, Sayantan Das third

GM Krishnan Sasikiran won his second Classical tournament of the year at 8th Liffre Open 2022. He scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 and finished a half point ahead of the field. GM Momchil Nikolov (BUL) scored sole 7/9 to finish second. IM Sayantan Das scored 6.5/9 to secure third place without the need of tie-breaks. The total prize fund was €5070 combining both categories. The top three prizes were €1000 and a trophy, €800 and €600 each respectively. GM S L Narayanan, GM Aravindh Chithambaram, IM Saparmyrat Atabayev (TKM) and IM Koustav Chatterjee won their respective games to reduce the gap. Astounding Pranav Venkatesh wins Challengers Final Four and Challengers Chess Tour 2022

GM Pranav Venkatesh is quite familiar with balancing two events simultaneously having different formats. He won an individual Gold medal on Board no.1 for India at World Youth Under-16 Olympiad earlier this month. He also won the Magnus Academy Challenge at the same time. The 15-year-old boy is curently playing at the Asian Continental Championship 2022. However, he also managed to win the Challengers Final Four beating Andrey Esipenko 2.5-1.5 in the Semifinals and Raunak Sadhwani 3-0 in the Finals to win the entire Challengers Chess Tour 2022. Anna Muzychuk (UKR) defeated Koneru Humpy to advance to the Semifinals of Women's Candidates 2022-23 Pool A. After a draw in the first two games, Anna had decisive advantage in the third tie-break, first Blitz game. She missed her opportunity and Humpy forced a draw by perpetual check. In the fourth game, the India no.1 and World no.3 made a simple one move blunder which cost her the game. Anna will face Lei Tingjei (CHN) in the Semifinals. The Speed King has finally done it. He earned the ever-alluring World title. If anyone in the current day top player who has not a won world title yet, deserves one, Hikaru Nakamura's name will be the first one in the list. The man who had to prove himself by qualifying through hours of grueling battle on lichess, defeated the hand-picked Wildcard Ian Nepomniachtchi in the Finals. He won the Armageddon to become the World Fischer Random champion. 50 years later after the Fischer-Spassky match, history repeated as an American defeated a Russian to become a World Champion for the very first time at the same place - Reykjavik, Iceland.
